Understanding your solar warranties

A solar system carries several different warranties, and they're not the same thing — panels, inverter, batteries, and the installation work each have their own terms. Knowing what's covered, for how long, and by whom is what tells you whether a low quote is actually a good deal or a future cost.

The different warranties

Panel product and performance warranties (usually the longest), the inverter warranty, the battery warranty, and the workmanship or installation warranty. Each is separate and worth reviewing on its own.

Who honors them and for how long

The manufacturer backs the equipment; the installer backs the work. Local support matters, because a warranty is only as good as the company that honors it when you need it.

Why a cheap quote can cost more

Skimping on equipment or installation usually means shorter or unsupported warranties. The real comparison is total long-term cost, not the upfront price.
